{"id":3023,"date":"2022-04-12T09:25:08","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T08:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mahak-charity.com\/en\/?p=3023"},"modified":"2022-04-12T09:25:08","modified_gmt":"2022-04-12T08:25:08","slug":"festival-of-fire-with-mahak-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mahak-charity.org\/en\/festival-of-fire-with-mahak-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Festival of Fire with MAHAK Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Every year Iranians celebrate the evening before the last Wednesday of the Persian calendar\u2019s year in a fun-filled event known as \u2018Chaharshanbeh Souri\u2019 or \u2018Festival of Fire\u2019. \u00a0As the Persian New Year begins on the first day of spring, this event celebrates the end of one year and ushers in the next.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u2018Chaharshanbeh Souri\u2019 which can literary be translated as Wednesday Feast provides an opportunity to shed all the sickness and malaise of the past year while asking for health and success for the upcoming one. While jumping over fire, Iranians recite what translates to: \u201cI give you my yellow (i.e., malaise) and I take your red (i.e., health).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>MAHAK also celebrates this day by setting up fire and invites its children and their families to join MAHAK social workers and volunteers in this old tradition.
