On July 28, MAHAK commemorates the World Hepatitis Day 2013, under the theme of ‘This is hepatitis. Know it. Confront it.’, marked to raise global awareness of hepatitis B and hepatitis C and encourage prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The date was chosen in honor of the birthday of Nobel Laureate Professor Baruch Samuel Blumberg, discoverer of the hepatitis B virus aiming to generate massive public and media interest like other WHO announced events.

The message from this theme is that hepatitis is not getting sufficient attention around the world and it is time to call for a change, time to discard “See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil’ and get tested, as early detection always relieve the heavy burden of the high costs of liver diseases’ treatment.

We, at MAHAK, express our sincere appreciation to all community-based and non-governmental organizations that consistently strive to raise awareness and influence real change in disease prevention and access to testing and treatment, thus raising the quality of lives of the infected and hope that one day, with your support, all people live their lives in a healthy and hopeful manner.
