Sweetness is one of the five basic tastes whose great flavor is of interest to most of us. But sometimes this favorable taste is marred by the bitter disease of Diabetes. Today on World Diabetes Day which is marked on November 14, let’s replace healthier methods in our lifestyle to prevent emergence of the diseases that endanger our health.
Diabetes is a group of metabolic disorders, with the most common types of 1 and 2, that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high when the body does not make enough—or any—insulin or does not use insulin well. Glucose then stays in your blood and doesn’t reach your cells. This disease which may arise from several factors, including genetics and inappropriate lifestyle, is like cancer a non-communicable disease (NCD) and has a gradual and prolonged treatment process.
We appreciate the individuals and organizations that strive to prevent, control and treat diabetes by raising public awareness about this disease and providing medical and support services for the ones suffering from this disease.
