1st International Pediatric Congress in Memory of the late Prof. Parvaneh Vossough in MAHAK

The First International Pediatric Oncology Congress in memory of the late Prof. Parvaneh Vossough, one of the foremost global authorities in pediatric hematology-oncology and the chairperson of MAHAK Board of Trustees, was held on May 15 – 17 2014 at MAHAK.
This congress was held jointly by MAHAK Pediatric Cancer Treatment and Research Center (MPCTRC), Iranian Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (ISPHO) and German Society for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology (GPOH). Several Iranian physicians from all over the country along with 11 leading medical specialists and professors from abroad with the goal of sharing the latest findings and experiences in the field attended this event.
The opening ceremony of this three-day congress was held with the presence of prominent figures such as Dr. Hassan Abolghassemi, head of Iranian Pediatric Hemotology-Oncolgy Society, Dr. Ardeshir Ghavamzadeh, Chief of Hematology-Oncology and BMT Research Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences to name a few. Dr. Mardawig Alebouyeh, a member of the MAHAK Board of Trustees and the president of the congress was the first speaker officially opening the congress by greeting all attendees, sharing professional memories of Prof. Vossough while explaining the importance of such congresses in the medical community. Afterwards Mr. Arasb Ahmadian, Managing Director of MAHAK, welcomed all attendees followed by a brief presentation of MAHAK and its recent accomplishments.
Scientific sessions began after the opening ceremony and continued on with subjects related to MDS, ALL, AML, CML, BMT and pain management for the proceeding two days.
MAHAK consistently strives to have a proactive participation in the regional and international fora, conferences, workshops, and congresses which are held in the field of cancer throughout the globe to share knowledge and achievements in the areas of research and treatment of all cancer types affecting children.
We express our preparedness and determination to play an active role toward the fruition of our common dream of eradicating cancer and hope that one day all cancer-stricken children receive the global support and assistance required for a life of health, dignity and fulfillment.
