News conference on Childhood Cancer Survivor day

December 28th is a day for persisting on MAHAK’s notion that “Cancer is not the end”. Thousands of children who have survived from cancer at MAHAK, thanks to the love and support from members, who have survived from cancer at MAHAK instead of thinking about survival now are with thoughts about how to prepare for their futures.

MAHAK’s Childhood Cancer Survivors event based on the day Kiana was born is marked to honor the strength and courage of those who are living with a history of cancer as Kiana has experienced.  She was diagnosed with cancer 24 years ago.  Successfully fighting an arduous battle, she not only survived, she thrives.  Thanks to this victory, her mother, Ms. Saideh Ghods became intensely preoccupied with the idea of building a charity-oriented organization for cancer-stricken children and their families.  Very soon thereafter, MAHAK was born, and as they say, the rest is history.

Saeideh Ghods who her child’s cancer lead her to establish MAHAK, reviewed a brief history of the organization stating that “We are celebrating December 28th , as the day of children who have survived from cancer, in order to tell all patients, families, doctors, staff, and to the world that cancer is not the end “

In this conference MAHAK specialists stated their achievements in cancer treatment and the rate of cancer survivorship. MAHAK has always made efforts to diagnose cancer in the very first stages, and by planning in prognosis and awareness in order to increase the rate of cancer survivorship in children.

Prof. Mardawig Alebouyeh, a prominent oncologist, chair of MAHAK Medical Council and member of its board of trustees stated ”Based on survival rates at MAHAK we are on par with the top medical facilities around the world.” Later Dr. Azim Mehrvar, Head of MAHAK hospital also commented that: “MAHAK has become a leader in diagnosis and rehabilitation. Today, we cannot only mention physician and patients as a part of healing process, but also nurses, psychologists, and social workers all together play an important role in this process.”

After MAHAK was honored to receive the Gold Award from the International Project Management Association, on the December 17th 2014, MAHAK was awarded the silver medal of the GPM Global Sustainability Project of the year Award.

Arasb Ahmadian, the CEO of MAHAK, said: “MAHAK is striving to give the best set of qualitative and quantitative services for children who are suffering from cancer. The GPM award, alongside the IPMA gold medal in 2014, has made MAHAK become one step closer to its goals. The silver award given to MAHAK confirms that our organization is on par with development disciplines, and the ten primary principles of international manifest of Global Compact, as well as, the third millennium goals of the United Nations.”

From family members to close friends, everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer.  This inspiring day provides an opportunity for all people living with a history of cancer to connect with each other, celebrate milestones, and recognize those who have supported them along the way.

MAHAK congratulates this day of hope to all cancer survivors, their families and friends, and the global community dealing with this insidious enemy we all know as cancer; and appreciates all the kindness and support benevolent members and volunteers selflessly provide to help children remain children, giving them hope and conviction, preventing them from becoming reclusive, and thus assisting them in maximizing their chances for recovery and returning to normal life afterwards.
