The National Day for Physicians was convened at MAHAK on August 23, 2014 which coincidesis with Ibn Sina’s (Avicenna) day of birth, in order to commemorate the hospital’s physicians for their strong commitment, not only for the treatment of children suffering from cancer, but also in helping them achieve a desirable quality of life afterwards.
The ceremony included members of the board of directors, board of trustees and hospital staff. The head of the hospital, Dr. Azim Mehrvar, honored the memory of late Professor Parvaneh Vossough and said “we try our best every day to improve our ability to help these children. At MAHAK, all the doctors, along with the nurses, psychologist and social workers do their best every day to provide the necessary care and treatment for our patients. Together, we are one family”.
MAHAK’s Managing Director, Mr. Arasb Ahmadian praised the fact that the hospital was built, equipped and is running into its seventh year solely on charitable contributions of benefactors. The representative of the physicians, Dr. Farid Gharehdaghi honored the legacy of Ibn Sina and Zachariah Razi as two of the pioneers in the field of medicine, and stressed that their revolutionary contributions to the study of medicine should not and will never be forgotten.
At the end of the ceremony, one of the patients gave the physicians paintings made by pre-teen supporters of MAHAK children in order to thank them for their help. MAHAK wants to express its gratitude to its physicians and all other physicians around the globe whose love and commitment for their job and their service recipients is evident on a daily basis.
