Cup of Altruism

A symbolic football match was held at MAHAK on the 17th of July 2013 between the MAHAK-children team against the MAHAK-staff soccer team in presence of Javad Nekounam, the captain of Iranian National football Team, Alireza Haghighi, the goalkeeper of Iranian National Team and the former professional footballer, Mr. Vahid Mazaheri.
The match was organized with the objective of disseminating smile and hope among MAHAK children in order to motivate them in their battle with cancer.
MAHAK-staff team, of which Alireza Haghighi was the goalkeeper, faced their counterparts, who called Javad Nekounam as their captain, in a friendly manner while the playground was filled with spectators beaming with joy and excitement.
The commentator, Amir Reza who is also a cancer survivor declared the MAHAK-children team as the winners of this match with 20 goals advantage after which paintings drawn by children under treatment in MAHAK were dedicated to the guests as a symbol of gratitude as well as the cup of altruism, made with love for helping fellow human beings.
This is one among many activities MAHAK regularly conducts in promoting and reinforcing the conviction that ’Cancer is not the end’.
MAHAK fully appreciates all the kindness and support benevolent members and volunteers selflessly provide which, through these types of activities, help children remain children, giving them hope and conviction, preventing them from becoming reclusive, and thus assisting them in maximizing their chances for recovery and returning to normal life afterwards.
