Psycho-social Support
Psycho-social support is currently an integrated part of any cancer response. This becomes more important in the case of child cancer response since children are more vulnerable to the side effects of cancer. The Psychology Department of MAHAK provides free counseling services to children with cancer and their parents as a compulsory part of its programs. During 2008-2009, there were 1962 cases of individual and 160 cases of group counseling with 28 cases being referred to psychiatrist physicians. Twenty training workshops were held to train volunteers to meet the needs of parents to enable them to cope with the concerns of their children.
