Yalda Night, known as “Shab-e Yalda,” is a cherished tradition celebrated in Iran and among Farsi-speaking communities worldwide. Observed on the longest night of the year, typically December 21st or 22nd, it marks the transition from autumn to winter.
This ancient celebration symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, bringing families together to share stories, read poetry, and enjoy traditional Persian foods.
Shab-e Yalda is a family-oriented tradition/gathering and serves as an occasion to highlight the values of love, unity, and hope. It not only celebrates the change of seasons but also emphasizes the importance of family bonding, making it a special and meaningful tradition in Persian land culture.
MAHAK as an ever expanding family, always observes this occasion for staffs, volunteers, children and their families. At MAHAK, cancer does not overshadow traditions and festivities. We ensure that if a child is at MAHAK and under treatment procedure, properly celebrates and enjoys Yalda-night.
Happy Shab-e Yalda 1403! May it be the last night any kid has to spend away from home.
