MAHAK children, along with the help of astronomists, took a closer look at the moon and the stars through a telescope. In this program, the dreams of children who always looked at the sky with hopes of closely viewing the moon and stars came true.
At the beginning of the ceremony, children from all departments of the hospital came to the outdoor field where the telescopes had been installed. The children were initially taught a lesson on astronomy, from topics ranging from the structure of Galaxies to the rotational pattern of the Sun and the Earth. At one point in this lesson, three children were each assigned one of the following roles: the Earth, the sun, and the moon. By moving around each other, they taught their other friends the meaning of a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse.
As the sun began to set, the children became very excited to see the crescent moon up close. The children, with their families, lined up behind the telescopes and waited for their turn. The families helped the children up on the stool in order to get a clear view through the telescope. The children were excited and eager to see the new and colorful details through the telescope. Hossein, one of the 7-year-old children at MAHAK, was very enthusiastic and even captured a picture of the moon through the telescope from his mother’s phone.
The Iran Amateur of Astronomy Society held this program at MAHAK for the second time. On the day of the visit, children with cancer got the opportunity to participate in a new experience.
MAHAK appreciates the hard work of those who invest their time and energy in order to bring happiness to the MAHAK children.
