On August 19, 2003, a tragic bombing at the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, claimed the lives of 22 humanitarian aid workers, among them was the UN’s chief humanitarian officer in Iraq. In honor of these dedicated individuals, World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is observed annually on this date, to acknowledge the aid workers’ contributions to humanitarian causes.
Each year, WHD adopts a specific theme that gathers partners from various corners of the humanitarian community to advocate for the survival, well-being, and dignity of the individuals, who are affected by crises worldwide. It also emphasizes the importance of ensuring the safety of aid workers. This year’s theme for the world humanitarian day is #ActForHumanity.
MAHAK philanthropists and volunteers have always supported MAHAK ever-expanding family #No Matter What. Now and stronger than ever, they stand with MAHAK for children suffering from cancer, because they believe in three words: #ActForHumanity.
