Non-communicable diseases are very common causes of death worldwide while they can be prevented or curbed by healthy lifestyles. They include Heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPDs). MAHAK as a health centric organization which is providing comprehensive care services for children suffering from cancer finds itself responsible for raising awareness towards other non-communicable diseases on international occasions announced by the related organizations.

November 21 has been marked as the World COPD Day by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) in collaboration with health care professionals and COPD patient groups throughout the world. Its aim is to raise awareness, share knowledge, and discuss ways to reduce the burden of COPDs including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, bronchiectasis, and cystic fibrosis.

“Healthy Lungs – Never More Important” as the theme for this day aims to highlight the necessity of focusing attention to COPDs during the ongoing global COVID pandemic. Keeping lungs healthy by avoiding carcinogens and staying active through regular physical activity, receiving important vaccines, keeping medical appointments and taking medications correctly are among the measures that can be taken in this line.

MAHAK pays tribute to all who work hard to eradicate NCDs all over the globe with awareness raising and service provision. We wish for a healthy world in the future where there are no communicable diseases and all people live happily with one another.
