In Commemoration of World Refugee Day

MAHAK participated in an event held by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in cooperation with the Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants’ Affairs (BAFIA) in commemoration of the World Refugee Day 2015, which is observed on June 20 in Tehran, Bahman Cultural Centre, under the UNHCR announced theme of ‘Refugees. Ordinary People Living Through Extraordinary Times: Education and Sports’.

This event was held with the notable presence of UNHCR Iran Representative, Mr. Sivanka Dhanapala and Director General of BAFIA, Mr. Ahmad Mohammadifar, as well as the Deputy Minister of Interior for Security and Disciplinary Affairs, Mr. Hossein Zolfaghari, members of the foreign missions based in Tehran, Iranian officials, members of academia and civil society organizations as well as aid-workers whose invaluable contributions was acknowledged by all present.

MAHAK as a long-lasting implementing partner of one of the UN agencies, namely United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) consistently strives to have a proactive participation in the regional and international fora, conferences, workshops, and congresses, which are held in the field of humanitarian activities to promote the idea of “Love without Border”. MAHAK’s 20 year-plus experience of supporting more than 700 refugee children with cancer and their families in a comprehensive fashion, demonstrates this principle very well.
