In Observance of World White Cane Day, 2021

The photo you see belongs to Reza, MAHAK’s 15-year-old boy, who lost his vision during cancer treatment. Reza is a musician, singer and logo designer now. He is MAHAK’s little hero who was diagnosed with cancer when he was 4 months old and went into remission at the age of 7. “I get a better understanding of things I create by touching them. I try to create everything as it really looks”, says Reza. Over the course of the past 30 years, 1,373 MAHAK children were diagnosed with eye tumors, and the survival of each of them from cancer highlights the heroism of the ever-growing MAHAK family. P.S.: Eye tumors are one of the most common cancers in children and can include symptoms such as a white glow in the pupil first noticed in photos when flashes are used; complaints of poor vision; one or both eyes turning inward or outward; and pain from increased pressure as the tumor grows. Vision problems can be a side effect of cancer treatments. MAHAK’s Ophthalmology Clinic was established in 2013 to provide MAHAK children with treatment services.
