Zahra was 5 years old when her mother noticed issues with her vision and they quickly came to Tehran for her treatment. Doctors diagnosed Zahra with a tumor (retinoblastoma) in her left eye. Supporting by MAHAK, she underwent surgery at one of the Iranian hospitals, and her left eye was removed.
Her mother’s vigilance led to the early detection of cancer symptoms for Zahra, and preventing the tumor from spreading to her healthy eye; now, she sees the world through her right eye.
However, this did not hinder her determination and effort; at 22, she is a fashion design student and is passionate about working in this field. Zahra is an inspiration for children facing physical impairments due to cancer or its treatment side effects. Despite hardships, physical challenges cannot hinder the progress of children with cancer, and they can become successful individuals in their lives.
It should be remembered that cancer treatment can come with side effects, and we strive in MAHAK to preserve the quality of life for our children, even with treatment-related complications.
