Kimia’s Memory of MAHAK

It has been so long since she has completed her treatment at MAHAK that she no longer remembers the specifics of her illness. Since when her family first noticed her illness, Kimia was only three years old. Now, she is a successful twenty-seven-year-old woman who has established her own business in Kermanshah province, running a printing and design office.

Kimia is one of the children who passed her cancer journey at MAHAK staying at MAHAK first residential center. At that time, when she was undergoing treatment, the hospital building at MAHAK had not yet been constructed. Despite her young age, she vividly recalls one of the end-of-year celebrations (Chaharshanbe Suri) at MAHAK residence, where everyone gathered around the fire, enjoying themselves. While she can’t recall the names of the nurses, their kindness has left an indelible mark on her memory.

Having graduated from visual communication degree, Kimia has illustrated or designed over 200 children’s and adult books. With the establishment of her printing and design office, she has also ventured into entrepreneurship. She believes that battling cancer has been instrumental in achieving her current successes, and teaching her the importance of resilience.

Her strength was evident when she overcame a dangerous respiratory virus towards the end of her cancer treatment. This experience led her to share a message with the children currently undergoing treatment at MAHAK: “This period may be challenging for you, but have faith that your cancer will be cured.”
