Stem cell transplantation is an innovative approach utilized in treating various hematological conditions. Inaugurated in October 2011, MAHAK HSCT domain has served as a reference center for children requiring stem cell transplants that provides critical support and innovative therapies for them.

The journey began in 2011 with the admission of the first patient, who underwent an allogeneic transplant using stem cells from her sister. Since then, the HSCT domain has successfully transplanted a total of 286 patients. Between 2011 to 2016, the domain accomplished 170 autologous and allogeneic transplants. Continuing this procedure, Dr. Naderi has directed an additional 124 transplants from 2017 to the present.

To ensure the high standards of care, MAHAK HSCT domain has been equipped with eight isolated rooms containing a positive air pressure system, ultraviolet (UV) lights, and HEPA filters. This sort of required setup is vital for protecting patients during their recovery phases.

During pre-transplant phases, MAHAK sends harvested hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) to the Royan Institute, Tehran, for washing, processing, and freezing before being transfused to patients. In addition, collaborative consultations with colleagues from Shariati Hospital, Tehran, takes place to further enhance the quality of provided care.

Now, it’s been more than one decade that MAHAK has provided the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for patients suffering from blood-related diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and aplastic anemia. Through utilizing advanced treatments like hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, MAHAK not only aims to reduce children’s pain but also strives to safely return them to their families.
