The 13th International Management Conference, with the goal of increasing the capacity of Iranian organizations to face environmental changes, was held with the presence of national management experts. Arasb Ahmadian, the CEO of MAHAK, participated in the expert panel of this scientific event entitled “NGOs in Iran, the Urge for Change in Management Models” and gave a speech regarding “Conceptual Model of Charity in NGOs”.
Mr. Ahmadian focused on the topic of differences in the management of traditional and systematic management approach of NGOs and said, “In a systematic approach, the first step is a needs assessment. Processes related to resources, marketing and distribution of resources are necessary in the development NGOs and can be maintained merely through a systematic approach to management. On the other hand, the traditional approach of NGOs means the NGO taking on the role of the mediator between the donor and aid recipient. In these organizations, the reduction of upstream spending is prioritized, in the case when the systematic approach focuses on the conversion of resources to services in order to create sustainable added value.”
Creating Added Value; A Necessity for NGOs
The CEO of MAHAK mentioned that the focus of leading organizations should be on added value of donations and emphasized that the development of NGOs is not possible with the traditional view. He added, “NGOs cannot grow and develop with the traditional approach and that growth and development is crucial to create added value on the donated funds.”
At the end, Mr. Ahmadian added that in the upcoming conferences, there should be a focus on NGOs for improving the above categories and also utilizing knowledge of management.
