A team of MAHAK’s managers visited the Office of United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Iran on World Food Day, October 16, 2015, to acknowledge WFP’s humanitarian efforts.
WFP is the food assistance branch of the United Nations addressing hunger that supports food aid operations to the most vulnerable while establishing resilience to overall food security. The core policies and strategies that govern WFP activities are to provide food aid to save lives in refugee and other emergency situations; to improve the nutrition and quality of life of the most vulnerable people at critical times in their lives; and to help build assets and promote the self-reliance of poor people and communities, particularly through labor-intensive works programs.
This visit was a chance for both organizations to become familiar with each other’s activities, exchange knowledge and experience for managing challenges, and accordingly offer the best services. Some of the main objectives mentioned at this meeting by Negar Gerami, WFP Representative, are:
- • Both MAHAK and WFP exclusively benefit from public trust and help to carry out their missions
- • Both MAHAK and WFP are meant to improve the quality of life, health and nutrition
- • Raising public awareness is the main goal for both organizations
- • Both organizations try to attract public participation preventing the creation of a sense of pity
By conducting such visits, MAHAK would like to play its part by highlighting the humanitarian essence leading to its creation, growth, and sustenance and tries to collaborate with other national and international humanitarian organizations.
