Message from the Congress Secretary- The Biennial International Pediatric Oncology Congress2024

The efforts of Professor Parvaneh Vossough and dedicated specialists have led MAHAK charity institute to achieve significant successes more than three decades;

MAHAK charity Institute was initially established with the aim of supporting families whose their children suffer from cancer. On that account, various individuals with venerable intentions, began their work in MAHAK. After a while, the need for establishing a specialized hospital for children with cancer became apparent to develop more effective treatment for pediatric oncology diseases. Hence, MAHAK specialized hospital was founded with the support of philanthropists.

A great number of children enduring cancer have been treated in MAHAK based on global standard treatment protocols, in more than three decades, since MAHAK charity institute began to work.

Late Professor Parvaneh Vossough, who was one of the pioneers and founders of pediatric oncology in Iran, had glorious thoughts beyond her expertise. She was a supporter and a companion to MAHAK children since the beginning.  She devoted her life and expertise to children with cancer by working voluntarily and without collecting any compensation since MAHAK first day. During which, she worked as MAHAK scientific director and chairman of the board of trustees.

Professor Vossough has trained so many students whom have continued her way to serve children with cancer through sacrificing their lives and wealth. This act of training dedicated specialists, adhering to ethical and human principles have led the treatment of pediatric oncology diseases to prevail in Iran.

Any scientific activity requires documentation, scientific discourse reinforcement, exchanging ideas, and utilization of other individuals’ experiences. Like other scientific fields, pediatric oncology necessitates sharing good and bad results of therapeutic interventions with national and international experts.

MAHAK has always been a strategic approach-based institute, which can be a role model for other local and global charity institutes. Following this paradigm, MAHAK Hospital endeavors to get recognized in the same way locally and globally. Respectively, the biennial International Congress of Pediatric Oncology (In Memory of Professor Parvaneh Vossough) is being held.

Professor Vossough left a notable legacy at MAHAK Hospital; MAHAK family greatly appreciates her activities forever and will make the best efforts to continue her legacy.

We hope that setting up the congress in memory of Professor Vossough, results in representing efficient and up-to-date protocols in pediatric oncology treatment as well as developing MAHAK collaborations with local and international experts and partners.
