Multidisciplinary Approaches for Treating Pediatric Brain Tumors at Biennial International Congress Press Conference

According to the Public Relations of MAHAK Charity Institute, the press conference of the “Biennial International Congress of Pediatric Oncology (In Memory of Professor Parvaneh Vossough)” was held at MAHAK.
The event was set up by the presence of Dr. Arasb Ahmadian, the CEO of MAHAK Charity Institute, Dr. Mohsen Rouzrokh, the scientific secretary of the congress, Dr. Mitra Ghalehafian, Dr. Hadi Mousakhani, members of the scientific committee of the congress, and Dr. Alireza Daneshgari, the executive secretary of the congress.
The MAHAK CEO emphasized that the organization has always been managed with a strategic approach and MAHAK in its latest strategic plan, has strongly considered on treatment transformation strategy. Dr. Arasb Ahmadian highlighted that MAHAK is aligning with global trends of health industry by opting to join the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) protocols through involvement in the Twinning program launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in accordance with MAHAK strategic plan at the hospital sector.
Dr. Arasb Ahmadian elaborated on the concept of Twinning program, which involves establishment of working groups to enhance knowledge-based resources and ensure the success of international collaborations. He then stated that MAHAK has become a part of the Twinning program by hosting this congress.
Dr. Mohsen Rouzrokh, the scientific secretary of the congress, pointed up the necessity of setting up this congress. He mentioned that MAHAK specialized hospital documents and maintains the pediatric oncology information; hence hosting such a congress provides the great opportunity for national and international experts to sharing their experience and knowledge at scientific level.
Dr. Mitra Ghalibafian, as a radiologist and technical manager of the Radiology Department at MAHAK hospital, highlighted the significance of addressing common brain tumors during the congress. She said that in recent years, the neuro-oncology team at MAHAK Hospital has considerably focused on treating pediatric brain tumors according to scientific findings, tumor board results, and evidence-based medicine to achieve more efficient and up-to-date treatment protocols.
Dr. Hadi Mousakhani, as a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at MAHAK hospital, stated that over 20% of children with brain tumors are directly treated at MAHAK hospital. Rest of the children with cancer are cured at other 41 medical centers across Iran, which are supported by MAHAK. He said: for this reason, the congress is being held by focusing on multidisciplinary approaches in treatment of pediatric brain tumors.”
Dr. Hadi Mousakhani later on emphasized the role and significance of Professor Parvaneh Vossough in pediatric oncology area. He also mentioned that the plenty of oncologists across Iran were either directly or indirectly trained by Prof.Vossough. With respect to Prof.Vossough’s impact on pediatric oncology treatment, the congress is being held in her memory.
At the end, Dr. Daneshgari, as the executive secretary of the congress, accentuated the importance of multidisciplinary treatment approaches for pediatric brain tumors during the congress. He mentioned that MAHAK specialists have been specifically working on the treatment of common pediatric brain tumors for 15 years; hence, it is intended to share MAHAK specialists’ accomplishments with local and global experts at the congress.
