Upon approaching spring, MAHAK celebrated the last Tuesday of the Persian calendar called Charshanbe Suri with the help of its volunteers and the social work department. Charshanbe Suri is an introduction to Nowruz (the Iranian New Year), and is celebrated with firework displays and the jumping over the fires.
On this occasion, Amoo Nowruz and his companion Haji Firuz also visited MAHAK children and their families while singing cheerful songs in order to spread the joy of New Year’s spirit among them.
Amu Nowruz is a wise historical presence who passes the old story of Nowruz to the youth. He appears annually at the beginning of spring, together with his companion Haji Firuz, to mark the beginning of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year. Haji Firuz plays music, dances, and demands gifts, while Amu Nowruz is the giver.
We are grateful to all supporters, volunteers and friends whose assistance enables us to hold such events for cancer-stricken children and their families, and hope for all children around the world a year full of health, happiness, and success.
