During 2023, a study was released with the topic on “Challenges in Treating Childhood Infratentorial Ependymoma: A Low- and Middle-Income Country Experience.” This research study was published in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics by the efforts of researchers at MAHAK Pediatric Cancer Treatment & Research Center with the endorsement of MAHAK charity supporting children suffering from cancer.
Current study tries to address the childhood brain tumors survival rate and therapeutic challenges, which include having access to pediatric neurosurgery, anesthesia, and in time radiotherapy in low to middle-income countries.
The findings of this study highlight that harmful consequences of postponing the radiotherapy in order to conducting chemotherapy is not an appropriate strategy in curing particularly for young children. Hence, the necessity of the long-term monitoring of the children should be considered by children parents and medical team.
