Parents Group Meeting was organized at MAHAK

The meeting of MAHAK’s parents’ group was held at MAHAK on April 24, 2016 with the presence of supervisors, support services managers, parents’ group members.

This meeting was held with the aim of sharing parents’ experiences in order to inform and empower all the parents and improve the quality of support services including counseling and psychological services. Saideh Ghods, the founder of MAHAK, as an honorary member of this group emphasized the necessity of different meetings with parents and stated:” holding discussion meetings for parents whether in Tehran and other cities is a fundamental and effective action to accelerate treatment of children suffering from cancer. It is MAHAK’s duty to reduce the families’ anxiety and confusion in facing their child disease by holding such gatherings.”

 Parivash Lajevardi, a member of MAHAK’s board of directors and trustees, mentioned the necessity of education for children suffering from cancer’s families and said: “Training courses have an important role in filling the gap which may exist between parents and children for the reason of their child’s disease.”

All the members of the parents group agreed upon the followings:

– Availability of classified data to sync parents information

– Holding monthly sessions with presence of a psychologist and parents group members

MAHAK believes in sharing knowledge, experiences, and co-intelligence which has such a great effect on treatment of children suffering from cancer by improving cooperation between parents and MAHAK caregivers groups which will increase the hope and empowerment of cancer-stricken children and their families.
