Presence of MAHAK at the 2023 Asia CCI Conference

Maryam Mohamadali, the manager of public and international relations department of MAHAK attended the 15th conference of Childhood Cancer International (CCI) in Asia region. This conference themed “Bridging the Gaps, Better Care and More Cures,” took place from May 20-21, 2023, in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Participants from member organizations and stakeholders discussed addressing equality gaps and explored topics such as family dynamics, palliative care, and survivors’ journey.
A Study on Behavioral Stress Management
During this conference the representative of MAHAK presented a scientific research paper entitled “cognitive-behavioral stress management therapy on mental fatigue and depression of mothers whose child has completed cancer treatment”.
This study was conducted by MAHAK psychology team with supervision of the head of this department, Nazanin Khosravi, at MAHAK Hospital in line with Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC) goal; increase the survival rate to 60% among children with cancer by 2030.
The aim of it was identifying the level of depression and fatigue among mothers after their child completed treatment. The result of this study helps support services team to identify the families’ real needs and provide them with the most qualified support services even after survivorship.
An Opportunity to Share knowledge and Experiences
During this conference different members of CCI had the opportunity of presenting the result of their professional work in helping children with cancer and their families from diagnosis to survivorship in sessions with various topics.
Participating in such conferences creates the opportunity for MAHAK to interact with other individuals and organizations to share knowledge and experiences, to get informed about recent achievements in order to provide cancer-stricken children and their families with the best and most effective services.
Accordingly, MAHAK as one of the largest pediatric cancer treatment in the region and the only one in the country consistently strives to have a proactive participation in these conferences in order to deliver higher level of services to all children suffering from cancer throughout the country.
