Psychological Services

Supporting families who have a child with cancer has been one of MAHAK’s core priorities since the organization’s establishment. All support services are provided in line with MAHAK’s mission to alleviate the emotional, social and practical burdens families face throughout the treatment journey.

The Support Services Department is composed of three main units: Social Work, Psychological Services and the Welfare Center. Each unit plays a vital role in ensuring that children with cancer and their families receive comprehensive assistance. In accordance with MAHAK’s values, every child covered by the organization receives financial, social, psychological and welfare support without any discrimination. The overarching goal is to help families focus exclusively on their child’s treatment while MAHAK takes care of the challenges surrounding it.

The Social Work Department supports children with cancer and their families through counseling, guidance and ongoing assistance from the moment they are referred to MAHAK. Social workers coordinate closely with medical teams and act as a trusted point of support for families, helping them navigate the treatment process and access appropriate resources.

The Psychological Services Unit provides free psychological counseling for children and their parents as an essential component of MAHAK’s programs. These services address emotional well-being, coping strategies and the unique psychological needs that arise during the course of cancer treatment, helping reduce stress and anxiety for both children and their families.

The Welfare Center offers vital support through the provision of accommodation, meals, transportation and educational assistance. For families who travel long distances to reach MAHAK Hospital, the Support Services Department arranges suitable accommodation by referring them to partner hotels in Tehran. This ensures that children and their families have a safe and comfortable place to stay during treatment. By removing logistical and financial obstacles, MAHAK ensures that no child is deprived of care due to distance or lack of resources.

Through these integrated services, MAHAK works to ease the burdens faced by families and empower children to continue their treatment with comfort, reassurance and hope.
