On January 9, 2025, Royan Research Institute, in collaboration with the MAHAK Research Center, hosted a one-day scientific symposium titled “Consultation of Specialists in Reproductive Sciences and Oncology for the Timely Referral of Cancer Patients to Preserve Fertility: Challenges and Solutions.”

The symposium aimed to foster collaboration among specialists to improve practices in fertility preservation for cancer patients, ensuring timely and effective referrals that could significantly impact patient care.

The symposium featured three focused panels:

  1. Experiences of various centers in fertility preservation for cancer patients
  2. Challenges and proposed solutions for the timely referral of children with cancer for fertility preservation (discussion and knowledge sharing)
  3. Challenges and proposed solutions for the timely referral of adults with cancer for fertility preservation (discussion and knowledge sharing)

The event brought together a diverse group of specialists, including those from infertility fellowships, pediatric and adult hematologists and oncologists, laparoscopic surgeons, radiation oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, obstetricians and gynecologists, pathologists, urologists, and reproductive medicine specialists.

This event was organized through a collaboration between Royan Research Institute and MAHAK Charity Institute. Negin Jafariyan, the Head of Education at MAHAK Research Center, served as the Scientific and Executive Advisor of the symposium and actively participated in the weekly scientific working groups.

Likewise, two health professionals from MAHAK, Dr. Shaghayegh Hassas Yeganeh and Dr. Bahar Moeini, delivered speeches during the event.

During this event, MAHAK Research Center representatives presented the opportunities and capacities to foster collaboration with Royan Institute. In line with this purpose, a reciprocal agreement is going to be processed between MAHAK and Royan.

This contribution not only highlights MAHAK mission to providing healthcare and supportive services in pediatric cancer but also paves the way for future partnerships aimed at enhancing the community welfare.
