Ms. Saba Kamkar – Head of MAHAK’s Public and International Relations Dept.
The proclamation of this congress which was signed and approved by all participants is as follows:
As Michael Porter – management expert, author, and Harvard professor – believes, social responsibility is not a deal; economic entities and nongovernmental organizations are not parties of a transaction, but strategic partners with a common goal of improving the predicament of the target population of NGOs on one hand and promotion of social and economic values of the corporation on the other hand. CSR is a two-way relationship and is thus essential that non-governmental organizations justify, define and report related projects on the basis of management characteristics and components as reflected in the literature regarding economic entities.
In line with declarations made after the first CSR congress held in MAHAK on Feb. 15, 2011 which were:
1. Increasing the capacity of Iranian NGOs for development and implementation of CSR programs
2. Establishing Chamber of Commerce as an agent of promoting the concept of social responsibility and its mutual benefits for economic entities
3. Developing mutual undertakings for development of incentive programs for economic entities who adopt CSR programs voluntarily.
4. Promotion of CSR values and principles by NGOs and inculcation of such values in the society at large.
the second congress held on the occasion of International Childhood Cancer Day after reiterating the role of NGOs as the main actors in the civil society arena and the main targets of CSR programs of private economic entities, ended with the following three proclamations made:
1. The bilateral relationship between NGOs and private economic entities as strategic partners in CSR activities is to be reviewed and ensuing blueprints for cooperation to be thoroughly studied;
2. Establishing a CSR Committee in Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines with participation of MAHAK;
3. In collaboration with MAHAK, other people-based charity organizations will be asked to form a permanent committee with the mission to coordinate the organization and establishment of CSR-related data gathering divisions within them.
It is hoped that the second social responsibility congress’s achievements would be evaluated in the 3rd conference planned for next February.
