International Volunteers Day (IVD), celebrated annually on December 5th, is a global observance dedicated to recognizing and honoring the invaluable contributions of volunteers worldwide. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985, this day serves as a platform to acknowledge the efforts of individuals who dedicate their time and skills to foster positive change in their communities and beyond.
IVD aims to inspire more people in volunteerism, since it is a primary factor in building a better and more inclusive world. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the day reminds us that these goals cannot be achieved without the society’s dynamic engagement.
Volunteers are often the first responders to the outbreak of challenges. Their passion and dedication in trying times, create significant impacts within their communities and the world.
For IVD 2024, the emphasis is on how volunteers contribute to the SDGs, reinforcing the idea that volunteering is an intergenerational cycle to connect people across different ages and backgrounds.
For over thirty years, MAHAK Charity Institute has had the accompaniment of countless volunteers who advocated their time and compassion towards endorsing children undergoing treatment and their families. To date, 7000 individuals has applied to become MAHAK volunteers, which among those 846 are currently engaged with MAHAK, providing help in various domains, CSR projects, as well as supportive services.
IVD is the best time to deeply appreciate our invaluable volunteers for their constant support and companionship.
Happy International Volunteers Day; a day where volunteers are acknowledged and the spirit of volunteerism is promoted at the local, national and international levels.
