The first thing I saw once entering the room, was her smile. Her smile made not only me but everyone in the room smile unintentionally. She came to surprise us with good news. But the way she and her parents were smizing unveiled her secret.
Two years ago, Yasna was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, her family joined MAHAK and continued her treatment here. Now she is 7 years old and going to school for the very first time. “Nothing could stop her from being happy and active.” Her mother said.
“Everyone at MAHAK remembers her with her smile. The way she smiled even in the most difficult levels of her treatment, encouraged us to be strong.” Her dad said.
Yasna started playing Flute and roller skate during her treatment. She fought strongly and steadfastly to prove that she is a hero and cancer is not the end. She is the first child that when I asked her “what would you like to be?” she said: “I don’t know. I have to think.”
All the time her parents and I were talking about the time she has passed, she was staring at us with eager eyes about going to school; she quickly changed the topic to her new bag and notebooks.
Children with cancer and their families like Yasna go through treatment process with confidence which comes from twenty five years of love and support of MAHAK. We hope that one day which is not that far, we all witness the smile of being remitted on every child’s face.
