Representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran Visit MAHAK

“MAHAK is a cultural pattern for other hospitals” said the Treatment Deputy of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran.

Dr. Ghassem Janbaba’ie, the Treatment Deputy of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran; Dr. Behzad Kalantari, Director General of the Hospital Management Office of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education; Dr. Marzieh Noorbakhsh, Head of Department of Diseases of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences; Dr. Reza’ie, Head of Budget and Counseling Department of Treatment Deputy of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education; Dr. Amir Hashemi Head of Medical Emergency Center of Iran, Dr. Reza’ie Advisor of  Treatment Deputy of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran along with a  group of advisors and managers of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education paid a visit to MAHAK hospital and institute. They had a meeting with the CEO, the head of the hospital, and the technical assistant of MAHAK Pediatric Cancer Treatment and Research Center.

In the sideline of his visit to MAHAK, Dr. Janbaba’ie in addition to mentioning what he had seen in the hospital, added: “At MAHAK, a set of services are being delivered to the patients free of charge. This is what we wish to implement in all the public hospitals around Iran.”

He added that: “In the Health System Development Project, we have strived to reduce the challenges that the patients usually face in hospitals, by providing free of charge chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery services to the patients with chronic and acute diseases in public hospitals.”

“Chemotherapy, palliative care, supportive services, genetic testing, imaging and transplantation services are free at MAHAK. In other words, all of the diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation and transplantation services are completely free of charge to patients” said the Treatment Deputy of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

“We hope that MAHAK practices will be modeled and similar treatments for children with cancer will be provided for other high-risk diseases,” said Janbaba’ie, adding that childhood cancer is extremely stressful for families.

The Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education stated that all the therapeutic stages are performed completely at MAHAK and added: “Psychological support is an important therapeutic stage and its great effect on the process of the treatment cannot be ignored. Fortunately, there are social workers and psychologists in MAHAK along with other specialists and experts.”

In the end, Janbaba’ie said: “we will do everything in the Ministry of Health and Medical Education to accelerate the process of service provision at MAHAK, so that MAHAK can deliver even better services to cancer-stricken children and their families.”
