MAHAK Nowruz charity bazaar was held on March 3 – 4, 2016 serving more than 4500 visitors with different stalls offering international and domestic cuisine, clothing and accessories, body care products, etc.
One interesting event that happened during this festival was selling the elements of Nowruz Haft-Seen in a dedicated stall where a table was set with the seven ‘S’ items symbolizing arrival of spring as described below along with MAHAK’s personal touch, adding “Salamati” as our eighth and the most important element:
Salamati: health
Sumac (crushed spice of berries): Symbolizing the color of sunrise
Senjed (wild olives): Symbolizing fertility and love
Serkeh (vinegar): Represents patience and age
Seeb (apples): Represents health and natural beauty
Seer (garlic): Represents good health, and is believed to chase away evil spirits.
Samanu (wheat pudding): Symbolizing fertility and the sweetness of life
Sabzeh (sprouted wheat grass): Symbolizing the fertility of the land in the spring and the rebirth of nature.
Revenue Generated by Bazaar
The Bazaar managed to raise 8.060.000.000 Rials, which as always will be spent on medication and treatment of children with cancer.
MAHAK fully appreciates all the kindness and support benevolent members and volunteers selflessly provide which, through these types of activities, help children remain children, giving them hope and conviction, preventing them from becoming reclusive, and thus assisting them in maximizing their chances for recovery and returning to normal life afterwards.
