MAHAK has always strived to preserve the childhood of the little angels it supports. Along the same line different ceremonies are conducted at MAHAK to mark different occasions and traditions in the year.
Chaharshanbe Suri ‘The Scarlet Wednesday’ is an Iranian festival celebrated on the eve of the last Wednesday before Nowruz (the Iranian New Year).
Haft-seen is an arrangement of seven symbolic items whose names start with the letter “S” pronounced as “seen” the 15th letter in the Persian alphabet; haft (7) is Persian for seven. It is traditionally displayed at Nowruz, the Iranian New Year.
This year due to the pandemic hit and to protect our children from COVID-19, Chaharshanbe Suri ceremony was not held with the gathering of children in MAHAK’s residential center, unlike the previous years. Instead, we set Haft-seens in every ward to welcome the New Year at MAHAK Hospital and also they were prepared and sent to other hospitals in Tehran which have pediatric oncology wards.
Moreover, A group of volunteers with confirmed negative COVID-19 PCR test result will celebrate new year with the children by giving gifts and singing happy songs for them at hospital wards.
We wish a year full of health and happiness for the ever-expanding family of MAHAK, including volunteers, who support cancer-stricken children in all circumstances.
May happiness never leave your hearts.
