Research Publication: Childhood Infratentorial Ependymoma

In 2023, a study titled “Challenges in Treating Childhood Infratentorial Ependymoma: A Low- and Middle-Income Country Experience” was published in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics. This research was conducted by the team at MAHAK Pediatric Cancer Treatment & Research Center, with the support and endorsement of MAHAK charity, which is dedicated to helping children with cancer.

The study addresses survival rates and therapeutic challenges for children with brain tumors in low- and middle-income countries. Key challenges include access to pediatric neurosurgery, anesthesia, and timely radiotherapy.

The findings highlight that delaying radiotherapy to complete chemotherapy may not be an effective treatment strategy, particularly for young children. The study emphasizes the importance of long-term monitoring by both parents and the medical team to ensure optimal care and outcomes.
