The Social Work Department at MAHAK provides support to children with cancer and their families from the moment they are referred to the hospital. Services include counseling and assistance tailored to each family’s needs. Children under 18 who are diagnosed with cancer at public or university hospitals and have confirmed pathology results are eligible for treatment at MAHAK.
Each child is assigned a social worker or volunteer social worker who accompanies the patient and helps the family understand and access the available services. Both the child and family receive professional support as needed.
MAHAK’s social work services extend across the country. Every child with cancer from disadvantaged areas who is accepted for treatment at MAHAK is financially supported. More than 60% of children receiving treatment at MAHAK Hospital live in regions far from the capital, and they are assisted through MAHAK’s nationwide network of social workers.
