Social Work Services
Social Work Department at MAHAK supports children with cancer and their families once they are referred to the hospital through counseling and providing necessary assistance. Children less than 16 years old who are examined in one of the public or university hospitals and whose pathology test approves cancer can be treated in MAHAK.
A social worker or social worker volunteer is assigned to accompany the child and help the family to become acquainted with the available services. Both the patient and the family receive professional assistance if necessary. In addition, MAHAK carries out support services throughout the country.
Every child with cancer from disadvantaged areas of the country who is accepted in MAHAK will be covered and financially supported. More than 60 percent of children under treatment in MAHAK hospital live in districts far from the capital and they receive assistance through the MAHAK social workers network.
