Supporting children with cancer is MAHAK primary mission. Part of this mission involves addressing the oral and dental health of children hospitalized at MAHAK Hospital; therefore, MAHAK dental clinic within hospital is actively operating. It is worth mentioning that no child supported by MAHAK throughout the country should remain deprived of dental services due to the lack of access to MAHAK dental clinic located in Tehran. Given that, MAHAK strives to ensure that all children in their place of residence have access to comprehensive supportive services by covering the costs of their dental treatment.
To provide dental services to MAHAK children, 18 volunteer dentists, alongside the dedicated treatment staff, are present at the hospital’s dental clinic at various times. MAHAK dental clinic accepts and monitors dental condition of almost 90 to 110 children on a monthly basis.
MAHAK dental clinic meets all needs of children in this field and operates under the supervision of an active pediatric dentist. Cavity restorations, root canal treatments, operating rooms with anesthesia, various child-specific equipment to reduce pain and anxiety are part of the activities and equipment of this center. This clinic is open every day from 7 am to 1 pm.
Oral and dental problems, such as gum dryness, mouth dryness, and tooth decay are sometimes the side effects arising due to treatment processes for children with cancer. Therefore, addressing these issues is an essential part of MAHAK supportive services aimed at improving our children’s well-being and quality of life.
