Charity, like the notions of volunteerism and philanthropism, provides real social bonding and contributes to building more resilient societies. It promotes the rights of the marginalized and underprivileged individuals to spread the message of humanity across the world.
The United Nations General Assembly has officially designated September 5th as the International Day of Charity to honor Mother Teresa, whose life was devoted to humanitarian purposes.
This day encourages all individuals, NGOs, and organizations worldwide to engage in charitable activities. It aims to raise awareness about the significant role of charities in mitigating the consequences of humanitarian crises.
Regardless of each year theme, international day of charity remains a vital platform to: i) acknowledge the power of charity and its significant work throughout the world. ii) Raise awareness about global challenges such as poverty, health, and sustainability that charities strive to eliminate them, iii) Encourage individual and collaborative enterprises towards a more fair and stable future for all.
