Each year from September 22 to 28, the world observes the International Week of the Deaf (IWDP) to raise awareness of the rights, needs and contributions of Deaf people. The 2025 theme, “No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights,” underscores that sign language is not merely a tool of communication but a fundamental human right essential for ensuring equity, accessibility and dignity.
The campaign highlights that sign languages must be officially recognized, promoted and protected, as they are vital for participation in education, healthcare, culture and all areas of public life. It also emphasizes partnerships where Deaf people take the lead, supported by allies committed to inclusivity and justice.
At MAHAK, this observance carries special meaning. While our mission is focused on supporting children with cancer, we are aware that some treatments may have long-term side effects, including hearing impairment. This reality makes accessibility and communication support crucial to ensuring that every child continues to grow, learn and connect with confidence. By advocating for the rights of children who become hearing impaired, we reaffirm our belief that comprehensive cancer care extends beyond treatment to include social, psychological and developmental support.
On this International Week of the Deaf 2025, MAHAK stands with the global community in advocating for inclusivity, accessibility and the recognition of sign language rights—because every young life holds incredible promise.
