UN Psychology Day 2026
Psychological Contributions to Fostering Collective Action in Uncertain Times: Advancing Human Rights in a World in Conflict
UN Psychology Day 2026 reminds us that in times of crisis, caring for the human mind and heart is as important as addressing physical needs. This year’s theme — “Psychological Contributions to Fostering Collective Action in Uncertain Times: Advancing Human Rights in a World in Conflict” — highlights how psychological support can nurture hope, resilience, and solidarity when communities are under pressure.
Over the past two months, the war in Iran—where MAHAK Charity Institute supports over 14,000 children with cancer from across the country—has added new emotional and psychological challenges for children, families, and caregivers. For families already coping with a child’s life-threatening illness, the added uncertainty and fear caused by conflict can feel overwhelming. In these moments, creating a sense of safety, continuity, and emotional support becomes truly life-affirming.
For a child with cancer, psychological well-being is not an extra; it is an essential part of care. Supportive conversations, moments of play, and a reassuring presence help children manage anxiety, process their experiences, and hold on to hope. For parents, psychosocial support offers a space to share worries, find strength, and feel less alone on this difficult journey.
At MAHAK Charity Institute believes that psychosocial care should be woven into every stage of treatment; therefore, our professional teams and volunteers work together to provide a compassionate environment where children and their families are seen, heard, and supported — even amid the uncertainties created by war.
On UN Psychology Day 2026, MAHAK honors the power of psychological support in protecting the dignity and rights of every child. In a world marked by conflict and instability, we remain committed to standing beside children with cancer and their families, fostering resilience through empathy, care, and collective action.
