Observed annually on June 12, the World Day against Child Labor serves as a global call to action to end the exploitation of children. This year, the day arrives at a decisive moment following the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labor, where international commitments have been solidified into the Marrakech Global Framework for Action.
The 2026 theme, “Red card to child labor: Fair play for children, decent work for adults,” highlights the urgent need to address the root causes that force children into work. With 138 million children globally still engaged in child labor —including nearly 54 million in hazardous conditions—the campaign demands reinforced action. This includes ensuring quality education for all children, strengthening universal social protection, and providing decent work and adequate livelihoods for adults.
The framework calls for stronger laws, better monitoring systems, and responsible actions within supply chains and agriculture. By ensuring that adults have the stability to support their families, we create the environment necessary for children to remain in school, play, and develop in safety.
At MAHAK Charity Institute, we believe that childhood is a time for learning, health, and development, not labor. We advocate for the protection of children’s rights and the creation of a world where every child is safe, supported, and free to pursue their potential.
On World Day against Child Labor 2026, MAHAK joins the global movement to “raise the red card” against child labor. We reaffirm our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all children, advocating for systemic changes that translate global commitments into real, lasting protection for the most vulnerable.
