The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health and it is a member of the United Nations Development Group. The WHO is responsible for the World Health Report, the worldwide World Health Survey, and World Health Day.This organization works with 194 Member States, across six regions, and from more than 150 offices, WHO staff are united in a shared commitment to achieve better health for everyone, everywhere. At WHO they strive to combat diseases – communicable diseases like influenza and HIV, and noncommunicable diseases like cancer and heart disease. They help mothers and children survive and thrive so they can look forward to a healthy old age. After visiting the wards and being informed about the numerous activities of the charity and the hospital they had a meeting with MAHAK’s representative of the boards of trustees and directors, specialists of MAHAK Hospital and the manager of public and international relations department of MAHAK.
In this meeting the representative of WHO in Iran, appreciated MAHAK as a nationally and internationally trusted NGO and also praised MAHAK for its recent article with the focus on the current challenges it is facing. Afterwards, in the course of the meeting the current challenges of MAHAK were discussed; in the end Dr. Hamelmann provided MAHAK with some recommendations for solving the issues.
MAHAK is proud for having hosted eminent international figures during its 27 years of its activities. Undoubtedly, the presence of such figures makes us more determined in moving forth in the path of supporting children with cancer and their families.
