MAHAK Marks World Patient Safety Day 2026: Safe Care for Life
Tehran, September 17, 2026 – MAHAK Charity Institute joins the global health community in recognizing World Patient Safety Day 2026, observed this year under the theme “Safe care for noncommunicable diseases” and the slogan “Safe care for life!”
Led by the World Health Organization, this year’s observance highlights the importance of reducing avoidable harm in the care of people living with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Because NCDs often require continuous care across different stages and settings—from prevention and diagnosis to treatment, long-term management, and self-care—patient safety must remain a central priority throughout the entire continuum of care.
For children living with cancer, safe care is essential at every step of the treatment journey. The complexity of pediatric cancer care, the need for coordinated services, and the long-term physical and emotional demands placed on children and their families make patient safety a critical component of quality care. Strengthening safe diagnosis, medication safety, continuity of treatment, and meaningful family engagement is therefore fundamental to improving outcomes and protecting the well-being of young patients.
World Patient Safety Day 2026 also emphasizes the importance of involving people with lived experience in the design and delivery of care. This perspective aligns closely with MAHAK’s patient- and family-centered approach, through which children and their families are recognized not only as recipients of care, but as valued partners in the treatment process.
On this occasion, MAHAK reaffirms its commitment to supporting safe, compassionate, and high-quality care for children with cancer. By promoting awareness, strengthening supportive systems, and contributing to a culture of safety, MAHAK continues its mission to protect the health, dignity, and future of every child under its care.
